Abstract


The former Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (PU for CHE) was the first university in South Africa to undertake the training of pharmacists. It started from humble beginnings in 1942
with the diploma training in pharmacy and only three students. The PU for CHE was also the first university in South Africa to undertake post-graduate training of pharmacists (1956) and to offer a graduate course in Pharmacy (1957).
